That, pursuant to section 202 of the National Emergencies Act ( 50 U.S.C. 1622 ), the national emergency declared on February 1, 2025, by the President in Executive Order 14193 (90 Fed. Reg. 9113) is terminated.

Plain-English summary

Confidence: high · Complexity: simple · Model: grok-4.5

This one’s a short joint resolution that would shut down a national emergency the President declared on February 1, 2025. That emergency (in Executive Order 14193) let the White House slap extra tariffs—taxes on imports—on goods coming in from Canada.

Congress has a tool for this under the National Emergencies Act, the law that lets lawmakers vote to end an emergency the President started. If this resolution becomes law, that specific emergency and the Canada tariffs tied to it would stop.

Importers, companies that use Canadian parts or products, and shoppers who buy those goods would feel it most. The text is bare-bones: it just names the emergency and says it’s over. It doesn’t list products or dollar amounts.
